What is an energy drink?

Energy drink is a type of beverage containing stimulant compounds, usually caffeine, that is advertised to provide mental and physical stimulus (marketed as “energy”, but distinct from food energy). They may or may not be carbonated and may also contain sugar, other sweetening substances, herbal extracts, taurine and amino acids.
