The Board of Directors of ”Danubius” University announced on Thursday, January 14, that the appointment of American researcher William B. Harvey as rector of the higher education institution has been approved by the Ministry of Education.

According to a statement issued by the university, Harvey, an internationally recognized researcher and manager, is taking the helm to expand the institution’s links with international academia through the quality, professionalism and involvement of its students, faculty and alumni.

Prior to his leadership position at Danubius University, Harvey was an eminent researcher at the American Association for Access, Equity and Diversity (AAAED) in Washington, DC.

William Harvey holds a B.A. in English from West Chester University, an M.A. in Social and Philosophical Foundations of Education, and a Ph.D. in Educational Anthropology from Rutgers University. He also received an honorary Doctor of Science degree from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology.

“This change strengthens the ‘Danubius, Our University!’ project. Such a managerial reconfiguration needed to be prepared and adapted to the future of globalized higher education. William’s arrival on our team ensures that the expertise of the American model of higher education is grafted onto higher education in Romania. This existing Romanian-American partnership in the management of ‘Danubius’ University foreshadows the strengthening of our university’s capacity to develop new study programs dedicated to international students. Therefore, it is a historic step in Romanian higher education, a partnership that has made the entrepreneurial vision of “Danubius” University become a reality, with a real potential to surpass any performance index in education, research and innovation”, said the president of “Danubius” University, Andy Pusca.
